School psychologists consulting in the schools: Comment on Gullette et al. (2019).

Comments on an article by E. C. D. Gullette et al. (see record 2019-39191-007). A recent article by Gullette et al. (2019) examined guidelines for education and training at the doctoral and postdoctoral levels in consulting psychology and organizational consulting psychology. The guidelines provide an important framework and noted several specialty areas from which psychologists can provide consultation. A related area of consultation in which the guidelines can also have utility involves the consulting work provided by school psychologists within schools. By emphasizing that consultation within school psychology is significant, we hope to draw attention to the point that consulting is a core area of school psychology practice, while also drawing attention to these guidelines for school psychologists who might not otherwise see this document. Personality assessment with adolescents: challenges and guidelines.

Approximately 4.5 to 6.3 million youth experience serious emotional disturbances. Unfortunately, many of them have unmet mental health needs. Tools used in personality assessment can offer unparalleled assistance in diagnosis, and assist in designing appropriate interventions. Unfortunately, not all psychologists embrace personality assessment as a key component in conducting a comprehensive psychological evaluation. In this article the effective use of personality assessment tools is described, with particular attention to issues of comorbidity. Guidelines for effective practice are also offered.

Child sexual abuse: offenders, disclosure, and school-based initiatives.

Children are being sexually abused at an alarming rate. Prevalence estimates suggest that one out of four girls and one out of ten boys experience sexual abuse. This paper examines the devastating impact of child sexual abuse and explores the contributions of school-based interventions to remedy the problem.
